Food lovers will be happy to learn that Ireland’s largest Nando’s restaurant has finally been opened.

The chain will bring more of its famous PERi-PERi chicken to the people of Cork after opening earlier today on Academy Street in the city. It is Nando’s second restaurant in Cork and an 11th location for the franchise throughout the country. Nando’s opened its first restaurant in Cork at the Mahon Point Shopping Centre in 2010.

The new store will provide more than 50 full and part-time jobs to the area, from cashiers to grillers and managers. Located in a former Methodist Church that dates back to 1880, the 152-cover restaurant interior will see many of the building’s stunning original features restored to their former glory, including an atrium, exposed brickwork and timber roof trusses.

Nando’s said in a statement: “Highlighting Nando’s South African roots, original art from emerging and established South African artists will feature throughout the restaurant alongside flagstone limestone floor tiling and metallic touches in copper leaf and steel. Fans will be delighted to see new items spicing up the menu, including chicken drumsticks, fillet steak and a chargrilled veg wrap.”
